Vienna coffee, art and music

By

A busy full day here in Vienna! First a long walk a long the Danukanal with the golden autumn colors and a visit to the Albertina gallery with modern Impressionists and contemporary artists of Monet, Pablo Picasso , Renoir. Some modern 1930-80 photographers and modern artists with electrically lighted art pieces.

I experience both the Vienna coffee and their authentic coffee house vibe at the famous Hawelka cafe where you walk off the busy, tourist centered modern Vienna city street and back thru a time portal of a coffee house with artists with sketch books and folks having conversations of worldly topics. I did some sketching while taking in the historic ambiance of this small and crowded cafe. The wall was covered with posters from the 1950’s and an old tube radio mounted on the wall gave some authenticity while busy tuxedo waiters served the various brews of Vienna (extended) coffee.

In the evening I attended a smaller venue Mozart and Strauss konzert that had a combined program of music, ballet and opera.

The hotel I’m in must be 100-200 year building that shares other floors with education and businesses. Here is the entry lobby where you climb stairs or take a one person elevator up.
The pension is on the 4th floor
The Austrians appear to have accepted graffiti as an art form and special shops sells graffiti paint.
