Slovenia

Another amazing day hiking and exploring from the town of Bohinjska Bistrica. It was cold and freezing temps but clear and very quiet and empty as I hiked a few miles up to a famous set of waterfalls out of town and up some steep mountains. I hiked for hours without seeing a single other person. One part of that trail was very steep and with the wet frosty leaves and the exposed roots, it made for a very slippery trail for a bit.

Climbing out of town past tiny 4 house hamlets high on the hill with small family farms and cattle and chickens.

In the afternoon I grabbed more photos around town of old houses and farm buildings. Slovenians love to cut and stack wood – very neatly ! They have developed this unique covered wood holder with adjustable bars that are everywhere! They spend hours carefully loading wood of all different sizes into these high covered wood structures. It’s like yard art for them.

Almost everyone speaks English very well too.

Hiking down the hill on trails where the frost never melted.
Walking back into town – one of several river flows

Old farm barns everywhere
