Praha, Czech

By

That’s what Prague is called by Czechs and much of Europe.

I arrived later Friday and was greeted by my pct friends that I met last summer in Pinecrest at the train station.

We went out to a local Czech pub restaurant Friday night and a nice several mile evening walk around the castle and over the Charles bridge.

Saturday we did a longer 12 mile walk around the city and thru parks. Stops for food and coffee and pastries and views from the various hills and castles and forts.

Dinner at Czech pub
Walking around the castle at night where the president works. Czech has a different system of president and prime minister and parties.
Walking along the Vitava river that flows thru Praha and hot cocoa at the scout club on the river
Walking thru the previous hunters lodge park
Statues showing the communist rule over Czech for several years
Canals with locks to get boats up the river.
Crossing over the river on one of many bridges
Hot chocolate and pastry at camp- a city planning building and urban planning center with all sorts of exhibits for city planning
Interactive video and maps showing planned transit and development projects
Climbing up onto fort walls and overlooking city below. Crazy number of light rail trams running everywhere all the time.
New and old trams
It’s gets dark by 4:30 temps hovered around 7 degrees C all day.

I have arrived on the weekend and special Monday holiday that celebrates the velvet revolution when Czech was able to remove the communist from rule in Czech Republic in 1989. Still many artifacts left over from the communist period which followed the nazi’s occupation just before.
