Hvar Croatia

By

Today I ferried from split to the island of Hvar. It turned out to be day 2 of a major Spartan hvar sporting event. Similar to the tough mudder in the states, this competition involved hilly running with many other rope climbs and carry 40 lb weights up steep rocky slopes and jumping over fire and swimming and then rope climbing etc. In this tiny island town are 4000 participants doing multiple events. Today is the last day of the competition. On the boat ride over I met a daughter and mom traveling and we hiked and visited the nearby castle.

Jumping over fire at the end of course in spartan event
Climbing to the castle just above the town. My hostel is right next to the center of town near port.
Clear waters in the bay.
Spartan event competitors ran thru the castle and climbed nearby peaked and swam along the shore here
The town offers a wonderful promenade of restaurants and gelato places that goes for along ways along the shoreline of this port city. Tiny narrow steps lead to more restaurants and shops and houses perched on the steep hill near the sea harbor.
