A longer day combing two trail stages in one day. About 28 km and 1000 meters of ascent and decent to the town of Prodbrdo. This town at the bottom of a very deep narrow canyon has options to put your car on a train car and go thru a mountain tunnel. Driving into these mountains villages is very difficult.

The trail was incredible steep in sections today but also many miles of more gentle empty mountain roads.

Ran into a local Slovenian – Darna who was hiking the steep sections and she shared info about her life in a nearby village with her goats.

The higher villages are just empty of people and the cows are all moved out and I guess lower for the winter.

For two days on three occasions I’ve run into this Hungarian couple Konyhàs so we exchanged contacts so we can reconnect maybe another time.
Totally empty high alpine cabins – I walked for 5 hours without seeing a single person
The only hiker I ran into was a local hiker named Darna who sent me this photo of her goat Zen. She lives on a farm a few villages away and took the train to hike a section of trail.
