Yesterday I finished the 16 stage/day Juliana 270 km trail by looping all the way around back to the starting point of Kranska Gora. Another wonderful day of hiking thru Italy from tarvisio on empty bike paths and empty mountain trails. Celebrated the completion with a double gelato in town.

In the whole 14-16 days I only saw about 8 hikers. I was able to hike with a few and share some meals with hikers from Belgium, France, Germany and New Zealand. I was able to connect with the trail organizers in Kobarid and discuss trail angeling for this trail.

For those hiking the trail, the stage between log pod and tarvisio is mostly in Italy and it is current routed on the main narrow steep mountain road with no shoulders so best to take the bus that only runs 3 times a day weekdays. Trail signs and trail seem to vanish in the Italy section. Once you return into Slovenia the signs re-appear.
